OUR VISION
One of the College’s core visions for our graduates is Contribution. We want our students to become informed citizens who are attuned to their environment, take responsibility for themselves and their actions, and serve their community.
That is why Flinders provides opportunities for our students from Prep to Year 12 to contribute to community service projects that support people in need in our community.
The Benefits
Research shows that volunteering in our communities helps to boost our mental health and sense of wellbeing. Participation in community projects and clubs also helps young people to develop character and leadership traits such as teamwork, confidence, self-esteem, perseverance, planning, learning to cope with success, disappointments and failures, and of course, to simply have fun.
Clubs to join
Our Flinders Secondary School co-curricular program offers many cultural and service activities for students to be involved in. Students may join the Flinders Interact, Environment Authority, French Club, and Writer’s Group amongst many other community initiatives. There is also the network and the Duke of Edinburgh program available for students to consider how to make a positive contribution in their community.
In the Primary School, students are able to assist people in need in our communities in a variety of ways. The new Find My Spark program has many wonderful entrepreneurial and community service programs and activities to join. There is also the Student and Staff Council and Round Square Ambassadors programs where students help to fundraise for charities and to support social justice projects.
